The No. 1-ranked Emory golf team finds itself tied for second place after the opening day of action at the Wynlakes Invitational.  The 36-hole tourney is being played on the 6,979-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Eagles closed out Monday's round tied with Guilford for the No. 2 spot in the 15-team field with a mark of eight-over par 296.  No. 2-ranked and host Huntingdon College holds down first place after turning in a team score of one-over 289.  Berry College (301) and Carnegie Mellon (304) round out the top five.

Sophomore Eric Yiu paced the Emory contingent over the opening 18 holes, carding a one-under par 71, the ninth time this year in 18 rounds that he shot par or better.  Yiu, who is tied for third out of 83 players, had a roller coaster of a round with seven birdies and six bogeys.  Junior Matt Organisak is deadlocked for sixth place on the leader board after firing an even-par 72. Junior Sam Galloway and freshman Logan Ryan rounded out the Emory scoring effort with showings of 74 and 79, respectively. Senior Connor Yakubov finished at 80 while classmate Anthony Muscato, playing as an individual, checked in with an 81.

The final round of the Wynlakes Invitational will be played on Tuesday.
