Emory Men's Golf Eyes Gordin Classic

The Emory golf team resumes action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 30- Oct. 1) when it competes at the Gordin Classic.  The 54-hole event will be played at the 7,003-yard, par-72 Columbus Country Club.  36 holes will be played on Monday with the final round slated for Tuesday. Serving as the host will be Ohio Wesleyan.

This year's field is loaded with talent as 13 of the 15 competing teams earning positions in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll.  In addition to the No. 2-ranked Eagles, other preseason top-10 schools taking part include No. 1 Illinois Wesleyan, No. 3 Huntingdon, No. 4 Guilford, No. 5 Methodist, No. 6 Wittenberg, No. 7 Carnegie Mellon and No. 9 Washington & Lee.  

The next Coaches Poll will be released on Sept. 27.

Comprising the Emory lineup for the tournament will be senior Matt Organisak and Sam Galloway, junior Eric Yiu, and sophomores Logan Ryan and Max Schwarz

Last year, Emory finished runner-up out of 13 teams with a score of 856, six shots behind first-place finisher Illinois Wesleyan.

In its most recent outing, Emory opened its season (Sept. 14-15) with a first-place performance out of 18 teams at the NCAA D-III Preview, shooting a 54-hole of 874, seven strokes better than runner-up Illinois Wesleyan.
