The Emory men's golf team finds itself tied for second place after 36 holes of action at the Savannah Invitational. The 54-hole competition is being held at the 6,845-yard, par-72 Savannah Harbor Golf Club.
The Eagles played 36 holes on Monday and are tied with Carnegie Mellon for the No. 2 spot in the 18-team filed after checking in with a 12-under par score of 564 (287-277), with the second-round effort tying the program's third-best score for an 18-hole round. Methodist University holds down the top spot, six shots ahead of the Eagles and Tartans with a mark of 558 (282-276). Huntingdon College and Guilford College are deadlocked for fourth at 565.
Senior Sam Galloway and junior Eric Yiu headed up the Emory contingent, with each player carding three-under par 141, good for a 14th-place tie in the 90-player field. Galloway turned in scores of 69 and 72 while Yiu shot a 73 during his opening round before shaving five strokes during his second round. Max Schwarz stands tied for 26th at 143 (72-71) while Matt Organisak (73-71) and Logan Ryan (77-67) stand at 144.
The final 18 holes are scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
