Emory Men's Golf Third After Opening Round Of Tiger Invitational

First Round Scores

The Emory men's golf team turned in an impressive performance in its first competitive round over a year on Saturday at the Tiger Invitational.  The 36-hole event is being played on the 6,925-yard, par-71 Forest Creek Golf Club North Course.

The No. 2-ranked Eagles find themselves in third place out of 14 teams after posting a three-over par score of 291.  No. 5-ranked Methodist and host No. 6 Hampden-Sydney College are deadlocked for the top spot, two strokes ahead of Emory at 289.  No. 2 Huntingdon College and No. 7 Piedmont College are tied for fourth after wrapping up today at 292.

Junior Max Schwarz paced the Emory contingent with a three-under par 69, good for a fourth-place tie on the 70-player leader board.  Schwarz registered five birdies en route to his 10th career round of par or better.  Senior Davis Hingtgen ranks seventh among all players after breaking par with a 71.  Rounding out the Eagles' scoring efforts were Logan Ryan with a 75, Grant Drogosch at 76 and Logan Lowery with a 78.

Allen Smith of Hampden-Sydney and Henry Angier of Methodist are tied for first place after firing 67s, while MU's Cooper Hrabak is third at 68.

The Tiger Invitational concludes on Sunday.
