Emory University junior Max Schwarz (Paradise Valley, AZ) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Men's Golfer of the Week following his performance in the Eagles' season-opening competition at the Tiger Invitational in Pinehurst, NC. It is the first time in his career that he has been selected for the award.
Playing on the 6,925-yard, par-71 Forest Creek Golf Club North Course, Schwarz tied with Pierce Robinson of Washington and Lee for medalist honors in the 70-player field, shooting a seven-under par 137. Schwarz's score enabled him to tie Charles Raindre (2008 Gordin Collegiate) and Logan Ryan (2019 O'Briant-Jensen Memorial) for the program's top mark for a 36-hole competition. After shooting a three-under 69 on the opening day of action, Schwarz tied his career best when he carded a 68 over the final 18 holes. All totaled, Schwarz logged a total of 10 birdies at the Invitational.
No. 2-ranked Emory finished fifth out of 14 teams at the Tiger Invitational.
The Eagles return to action, March 19-21, when they compete at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
