The Emory University men's golf team closed out its second day of competition at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
The No. 2-ranked Eagles totaled a team score of 297 during second-round action, leaving them with a mark of 582, good for third place out of 23 teams. No. 8-ranked Guilford posted its second straight score of 284 and sits atop the leader board at 568, five strokes better than No. 2 Huntingdon College (292-281--573). Piedmont College holds down the No. 4 position and is one stroke behind Emory with a 583 (287-296).
Junior Max Schwarz led the Eagles' pack, shooting a two-under par 70, his fourth consecutive sub-par round of the young season. Schwarz finished with five birdies on the day, four coming on the back nine. Junior Logan Ryan carded a two-over-par 74 while freshman Logan Lowery checked in with a four-over 76. Senior Davis Hingtgen and sophomore Grant Drogosch each wound up at five-over 77.
For the tournament, Schwarz is third out of 133 competitors with a four-under 140. Lowery, who fired a 68 on Friday, also ranks among the top 10 with his even-par 144 slotting him in the No. 8 position. Both Ryan and Hingtgen are deadlocked for 42nd at 150 while Drogosch is tied for 49th at 151.
Jack Lee of Guilford leads all players with a two-round effort of six-under par 138 (70-68).
The final round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate will take place on Sunday.
