The Emory University men's golf team completed first-round action at the Golfweek Invitational on Friday. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 6.755-yard, par-72 El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the Hills, Florida.
The No. 4-ranked Eagles stand third out of 12 teams after posting a team score of 304. No. 2 Methodist and No. 8 Carnegie Mellon are deadlocked for first place after the opening 18 holes at 299. No. 3-ranked Huntingdon holds down fourth place with a mark of 305.
Junior Logan Ryan paced the Emory scoring efforts with a two-over par 74, good for a fifth-place tie out of 60 competitors. Senior Davis Hingtgen was the next Eagle to appear on the leader board with his 76 slotting him in a tie for 16th place. Junior Max Schwarz and sophomore Grant Drogosch closed out the squad's scorers with each shooting 77. Freshman Logan Lowery ended the day with a 78. Ryan and Drogosch each notched three birdies on the day with Drogosch also registering an eagle on the 540-yard, par-5 10th hole.
Carnegie Mellon's Jason Li sets the pace for the field after one round, carding a three-under 69.
The second round of the Golfweek Invitational will be held on Saturday.
