The Emory University men's golf team came through with a solid day of play during the final round of the Golfweek Invitational on Sunday. The 54-hole tournament was played on the 6.755-yard, par-72 El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the Hills, Florida.
The No. 4-ranked Eagles finished the final 18 holes with a field-best score of 290 to finish the competition with a score of 899 (304-305-290), good for third place out of 12 teams. No. 2-ranked Methodist claimed the top spot at 880 (299-285-296) while No. 3 Huntingdon was runner-up with a showing of 891 (305-290-296). No. 8 Carnegie Mellon finished fourth at 900 (299-308-293).
Junior Logan Ryan topped the Emory pack during the final round, notching a four-under par 68 (top individual score of the day) that included six birdies. Ryan ended the Invitational with 13 birdies, second most in the 60-player field. Junior Max Schwarz registered four birdies en route to an even-par 72 while senior Davis Hingtgen also carded a 72, totaling three birdies on the day. Sophomore Grant Drogosch closed out the Eagles' scoring with a 78. Freshman Logan Lowery ended with a 79.
For the tourney, Ryan placed second on the overall leader board with a one-over par 217 (74-75-68). Schwarz tied for eighth after posting a 222 (77-73-72) while Hingtgen tied for 16th (76-78-72--226). Drogosch registered a 234 (77-79-78) while Lowery stood at 236 (78-79-79).
Jason Li of Carnegie earned medalist honors at two-under 214.
Emory returns to action, April 12-13, when it competes at the Wynlakes Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama.
