2021 NCAA D-III Men's Golf Championships Release

The No. 4-ranked Emory University golf team has been selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.  The Eagles are one of 37 squads vying for the team title that will be played May 11-14 on the Jones and Palmer Courses at the Oglebay Resort, in Wheeling, West Virginia. Serving as co-hosts will be Bethany College and the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Emory received one of four Pool B bids, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The other three Pool B bids were doled out to Carnegie Mellon University, Trinity University (Tex.) and Christopher Newport. A total of 30 conferences were awarded automatic nods while three berths were reserved for Pool C - schools from automatic qualifying conferences that are not conference champs and any remaining Pool B teams.  In addition, six individuals from non-qualifying teams were chosen to participate bringing the field to 191 players.

Emory will be making its fifth straight and 23rd appearance at nationals in the 36-year history of the program and the seventh during the 10-year tenure of head coach John Sjoberg. There was no D-III Championships last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The teams will split the first two days by playing the 6,857-yard, par-71 Jones Course and the 6,621-yard, par-70 Palmer Course. After the 36-hole cut, the final two rounds will be held on the Jones Course.

After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.
