Men's Golf Places Four on All-UAA Team; Klutznick & Li Sweep Rookie of the Year Awards

The Emory University men's golf team landed four members on the All-University Athletic Association Team as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. In addition to four All-UAA selections, the Eagles swept both the UAA Rookie of the Year and the UAA Sophomore Rookie of the Year awards.

Sophomore Jackson Klutznick was named to the All-UAA First Team in his inaugural season with the Eagles while also being named the UAA Sophomore Rookie of the Year. Seniors Max Schwarz and Logan Ryan joined Klutznick on the First Team as Emory occupied three of the five First Team spots. Freshman Tony Li rounds out the Eagles selections as he was named to the All-UAA Second Team and tabbed the conference's Freshman Rookie of the Year.

In his first year with the program, Klutznick has been a force for the Eagles, setting multiple records for the program as they head into the NCAA National Championships this week in Orlando. Klutznick placed in the top 12 in each of the five tournaments he participated in this school year and averaged a blistering 70.18 strokes over 17 rounds which led the team by three strokes and is the best by any individual in a single season in program history. He won two tournaments this season: the Chick-fil-A Invitational in the fall and the Emory Invitational in April. Klutznick recorded four rounds over the course of the season with a score of 67 or lower including a program record 64 in the second round of the DIII Golfweek Invitational in the fall. Klutznick paced the Eagles in scoring in four out of the five tournaments he competed in and placed second for the Eagles at the Jekyll Collegiate Invitational. Klutznick earned a team-high three UAA Athlete of the Week awards, his most recent one coming for his performance at the Emory Invitational.

Schwarz garners his third consecutive All-UAA nod as one of the Eagles top performers this season. Schwarz, heading into the final tournament of the year, is tied for second on the team with an average round score of 72.5 as he now leads the program in average round score for his career all-time. Schwarz competed in a team-high nine tournaments and placed in the top-10 in four of them to help lead the Eagles to their end of season No. 2 national ranking. He earned two UAA Athlete of the Week awards for his performance at the DIII Fall Preview and the Tartan Invitational. A third place finish at the Emory hosted Emory Invitational saw Schwarz finish with a career best 68 on the third round. Schwarz distinguished himself at the Tartan Invitational in the fall where he led the team with a three-round score of 219 (71-73-75) that saw him finish tied for second at the tournament.

Ryan was named to the All-UAA team for the fourth consecutive time making him the first player to earn an All-UAA nod all four years of competition since Matt Organisak. Ryan finished the regular season with a scoring average of 72.7 strokes which he compiled over 23 rounds this season. Ryan tallied four top-ten finishes in the nine tournaments he competed in. Ryan's performance in the UAA Championship final over NYU was pivotal in securing the victory for the Eagles as he earned a 3 & 2 win at the No. 1 spot to secure the 3-2 title over the Violets. Finishing tied for fourth, Ryan marked his season-best performance at the Golfweek DIII Invitational where he carded a score of 210 (71-71-68) with his third round score of 68 marking his best of the season. Ryan had his best scoring performance at the Jekyll Island Collegiate where he finished with a season-best six-under par 210 (70-69-71) to finish tied for sixth and pace the Eagles in scoring.
