Men's Golf Moves into Sixth at NCAA Championships

The Emory University men's golf team moved up to sixth place after the third round of the NCAA DIII Golf Championships on Thursday afternoon. This year's championship's third round was played at the 6,748-yard, par-72 Mission Inn Resort & Club El Campeon Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.

The No. 2 ranked Eagles, at the conclusion of the third round, accumulated a score of 298 to bring their 72-hole total to 897 which has them in sixth place heading into the final round of play. No. 1 ranked Methodist leads the field with a score of 873 (292-289-292) while No. 3 ranked Huntingdon and No. 18 ranked Hampden-Sydney are tied for second at 885.

Senior Logan Ryan had the best individual round of any Eagle at this year's championships with two-under par 70 which moved him up into a team-best tie for 16th with a 54-hole total of 222 (74-78-70). Senior Max Schwarz continued to be a consistent presence for the Eagles carding a three-over 75 which brings his total score to 226 (75-76-75) which ties him for 34th. Tied with Schwarz, junior Jackson Klutznick posted a 78 in the third round as he heads into the final round with a 226 (72-76-78). Senior Davis Hingtgen recorded three birdies on the way to a four-over 76 with his three-day total of 227 (75-76-76) putting him tied for 40th. In his first championships, freshman Tony Li has performed well with a three-round total of 228 (76-75-77) that sees him tied for 42nd.

The Eagles look to improve upon their score as they head into the final round which will get underway Friday morning.
