Ryan, Schwarz Join Klutznick As GCAA PING All-Americans

The Emory University men's golf team had four athletes named to the Division III GCAA All-American teams this past week.

Junior Jackson Klutznick earned his first ever All-American nod as he was one of nine golfers to earn a spot on the All-American First Team. Senior Logan Ryan earned his third ever All-American honor and was named to the All-American Second Team for the second time. Senior Max Schwarz earned a spot on the All-American third team which marks his third consecutive All-American honor. In his first season with the Eagles, freshman Tony Li garnered an All-American Honorable Mention.

Klutznick was phenomenal for the Eagles all season long averaging a program record 71 strokes per round over 21 rounds. Klutznick was one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Award which is presented to the national player of the year in each collegiate division. On top of that honor, Klutznick was named to the All-Region team while also earning a spot on the All-UAA First Team and tabbed the league's Sophomore Rookie of the Year. Klutznick was the individual winner of two separate tournaments this season: the Chick-fil-A Invitational in the fall and the Emory Invitational in April. In addition to his tournament wins, Klutznick also set multiple program records including the single round scoring record which he shattered with a 64 in the second round of the DIII Golfweek Invitational in the fall.

As a member of the All-America Second team, Ryan earned his third ever All-American honor after being named to the Second Team his sophomore year and earning an honorable mention nod his freshman year. In May, Ryan was named to both the All-Region team and the All-UAA First Team as he continued to round out his awards shelf. Averaging a blistering 73 strokes over the course of 27 rounds, Ryan finished with the fourth best mark on the team. Ryan finished atop the leaderboard for the Eagles at the NCAA DIII Championship where he finished tied for 23rd overall. In the Eagles fifth consecutive UAA Championship, Ryan played a pivotal role winning at the No.1 spot against NYU, 3 & 2 in the match play event.

After being named to the All-America First Team his junior year and the Second Team his sophomore year, Schwarz earned a spot on the All-American third team for his efforts during the 2021-22 season. An impressive career saw Schwarz earn his third consecutive All-Region award as well as his third consecutive spot on the All-UAA team. Schwarz averaged an impressive 72.9 strokes per round over the course of 27 rounds which is third best scoring average in program history. At the Emory Invitational, Schwarz registered his career best round when he posted a 68 in the second round to help the Eagles to win the tournament. Finishing with a 72-hole total of 300 (75-76-75-74) at the NCAA DIII Championships, Schwarz finished just two strokes off the team lead to see him tied for 32nd at tournament's end.

Li earned his first ever All-America honorable mention nod in his first collegiate season with the Eagles. Li posted a scoring average of 73.1 strokes per round that he accumulated over 20 rounds which is the best scoring average by a freshman in program history. Li was instrumental in defeating NYU in the UAA Championship bout as he secured a 4 & 3 win in the No. 2 spot to help the Eagles earn the 3-2 victory. Li's best performance of the season came at the Chick-fil-A Invitational where he came in fifth place and his first round score of 68 marked a personal best and is the fifth lowest round score in program history.
