Adam Gigax

Adam Gigax

Junior Adam Gigax came through with a pair of big performances in helping the Emory men's basketball team to home victories over Brandeis and New York University.

The 6-foot-7 Gigax averaged a team-high 27.5 points and was second on the club in rebounding (8.0 rpg) as the Eagles topped Brandeis in overtime, 94-85, and NYU, 84-75.  Gigax closed out the weekend shooting 51.3 percent (20 of 39) from the floor including 47.6 percent from three-point range.

Gigax led all players in scoring with 28 points (third highest career total), 26 coming in the second half and overtime, against Brandeis. He totaled 13 points over the final over the final 10:41 of regulation, helping Emory post a 29-12 scoring edge that helped erase a 17-point deficit and that forced overtime.  He closed out the night sinking 10-of-18 field goals, including five three pointers in 11 tries.  He also finished with six rebounds.   He followed that outing with his first career double-double, chalking up game highs in both points (27) and rebounds (10) in an 84-75 triumph over the Violets of NYU.  Gigax was successful on 10-of-21 field goals, five-of-10 from beyond the arc and sank both of his free throw attempts in totaling his eighth consecutive and 16th double-figure scoring effort of the year.  He has now scored 20 or more points on 10 occasions.

A starter in all 18 Emory games, Gigax ranks as the UAA scoring leader in both overall (20.3 ppg) and league (22.0 ppg) action.  He has drained a league-best 62 three-point field goals, good for ninth place on the program's seasonal ladder, and his 3.4 treys per game also paces the conference.
