Romin Williams

Freshman Romin Williams topped the Emory men's basketball team in scoring as the Eagles split a pair of home contests.

In games vs. Chicago and No. 2-ranked Washington University, the 5-foot-9 Williams averaged 22 points, ending the weekend shooting 50 percent (15-30) from the field, including a team-best 53.8 percent (7-13) from three-point range.

Williams pumped in a season-high 31 points, 19 in the second half, in the Eagles' 71-66 victory over the Maroons of UC. He concluded that game sinking 10-of-19 field goals, including five treys in eight opportunities. He scored the team's last nine points over the final 2:08 of the contest, the first three coming on a trey that gave Emory the lead for good at 65-63. With 30 ticks on the clock, he hit a jumper that provided the Eagles with a 69-66 advantage. He followed that effort by ranking second on the team in scoring with 13 points in a setback to Washington University. He converted 5-of-11 field goals, including two three-pointers in five tries, en route to registering his 14th double-figure scoring outing of the season.

Williams has appeared in 17 games and stands first on the team and fourth among UAA players in scoring with a 16.2 points-per-game average. He has drained 42.3 percent (44-104) of his three-point attempts, good for second place on the team and sixth on the league ladder.
