2018-19 Emory Men's Basketball Schedule

The Emory men's basketball team has released its 2018-19 schedule. A traditional 25-game slate, the Eagles' campaign features 14 home games which will see them host a pair of holiday classics. 

Emory will play the first three games of the upcoming campaign on the road or at neutral venues, starting with a Nov. 11 road endeavor at Piedmont College. The Lions, members of USA South Conference, are coming off a 15-11 mark a year ago.  The Eagles then back their bags and head to the Roanoke College Tournament, Nov. 16-17, where they will join the host Maroons (20-7 in '17-18) of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), Keuka College of the North Eastern Athletic Conference and the College of Staten Island (17-12, NCAA Tourney in'17-18) of the CUNY in the two-day event.

Head Coach Jason Zimmerman and his squad will make their home debut, Nov. 24-25, when the Eagles host the Emory Thanksgiving Classic, opening with a formidable test against USA South's Maryville College followed by a match-up against ODAC member Randolph-Macon College.  The Scots of Maryville advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season, finishing 22-7 overall, while R-MC, posted an 18-8 slate. Rounding out the field will be Oglethorpe University.

After a road date at Sewanee on Nov. 28, Emory will play all five of its December contests at home, beginning with a Dec. 1 bout against Trinity University (15-12 in '17-18) of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Eagles will battle another USA South opponent when it entertains LaGrange College on Dec. 5, before welcoming Berry College to the Woodruff PE Center in a Dec. 10 meeting.  After breaking following the conclusion of final exams, Emory returns to action when it hosts its Holiday Classic, Dec. 29-30, taking on Oswego College of the State University of New York Conference on the first day, followed by a contest against East Texas Baptist University (21-7 in '17-18) of the American Southwest Conference. Also taking part will be Denison College. Emory will enter the 2018-19 season having won its last 36 non-league contests, with eight of those victories coming in the NCAA D-III Tournament,

The 14-game University Athletic Association docket will begin with three straight road games, starting on Jan. 5 at Rochester. The following weekend will see the Eagles venture to Washington University (Jan. 11) and the University of Chicago (Jan. 13).  Emory then closes out the first month on the calendar with four consecutive home games – Jan. 18 vs. Case Western Reserve, Jan. 20 vs. Carnegie Mellon, Jan. 25 vs. Brandeis and Jan. 27 vs. New York University. The second half of the conference schedule begins Feb. 1st and 3rd when Emory travels to Brandeis and NYU, respectively.  Washington Univ., (Feb. 8) and Chicago (Feb. 10) will make the return visit to Atlanta before the Eagles play their final two road games of the year, at Case Western on Feb. 15, followed by a Feb. 17 meeting at Carnegie Mellon.  Emory closes out the regular season at home on Feb. 23 for a Senior Day meeting vs. Rochester.

Emory posted a 23-5 won-lost mark last season, the second-highest victory total in school history.  The Eagles finished runner-up in the UAA with a 12-2 record and made the program's six straight trip to the postseason, advancing to the Round of 16 for the fourth time in five seasons.  Emory holds the distinction of being the only D-III program to win at least one NCAA Tournament contest in each of the past six years.
