Romin Williams

Romin Williams

Sophomore Romin Williams was named the Most Valuable Player at Roanoke College's Dick Leftwich Tip-Off Tournament after helping the Eagles to a championship effort.

Williams averaged a team-high 22.5 points as the Eagles defeated Staten Island, 86-68, and Keuka College, 109-73. Williams ended the weekend shooting 42.1 percent (16-of-38) from the floor including 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from three-point range.

After totaling 13 points in the triumph over Staten Island, Williams exploded for a career-high 32 points (28 in the first half), closing out the contest by sinking 11-of-23 field goal attempts, including eight-of-18 from three-point, while converting a pair of free throws en route to tying the school's 20th-highest single-game scoring mark. In addition, his eight triples tied the Eagles' top single-game individual standard, joining Alex Gulotta (vs. Guilford, Nov. 20, 2010) and Richard Somers (vs. LaGrange, Nov. 16, 2001) in that exclusive club.
