Matt Davet

Matt Davet

Matt Davet tied for the team scoring lead and was the squad's No. 2 rebounder in helping the Emory men's basketball team to a pair of wins at the Maryville College Thanksgiving Classic.

Davet averaged 22.0 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Eagles topped Pfeiffer University and Maryville College.  In addition, he shot 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from the floor, including 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from beyond the arc, and was successful on all 11 of his free throw attempts.

Davet recorded his first double-double of the campaign, logging 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 124-112 decision over Pfeiffer in the Thanksgiving Classic opener before exploding for a career-high 29 points in a 95-82 triumph over Maryville.  He ended the MC outing nine-of-18 from the floor and converted a personal-best seven three-point field goals (tying the program's fifth-highest individual game total) in 14 tries.  He hit all four of his free throw opportunities and was second on the team with nine boards.   His point total against the Scots ranks as the high-water mark on the team this season.

Through seven games, Davet leads the UAA in scoring average (20.0 ppg).
