Matthew Schner Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Emory University junior Matthew Schner (Boca Raton, FL) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team for Division III men's basketball as announced by the organization earlier today.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

The 6-foot-4 Schner has helped the Eagles to an overall record of 19-3 and a No. 8 national ranking.  A starter in all 22 contests, he ranks among the University Athletic Association's top 10 performers in 13 categories.  A double-figure scorer on 19 occasions, his 15.3 points-per-game average is second on the team and third among conference players.  He is pulling down 7.8 rebounds per outing, second on the team and fifth on the league ladder, and has 10 or more boards in five of his last seven and in a total of six games this year. His paces the UAA in three-point shooting at 49.6 percent (46-of-93) and his average of 2.1 treys per contest stands seventh in the loop.

Schner landed a berth on the Academic All-District Team with a 3.84 grade-point average as a Business Administration major.  He is a two-time member of the UAA All-Academic Team.

Schner will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams. The Academic All-America teams for D-III men's basketball will be announced on Wednesday, March 11th.
