Matt Schner Earns NABC & D3Hoops All-Region Acclaim

Emory University junior Matt Schner was recognized for his fine 2019-20 campaign by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com, earning postseason honors by both entities.

The 6-foot-4 Schner was selected to the All-South District First Team by the NABC and was chosen to All-South Region First Team by D3hoops.com

A starter in all 27 Emory contests, Schner established himself as one of the University Athletic Association's most versatile players, ranking among the conference's top 10 in 12 statistical categories, including nine rankings of sixth or highe. He was tabbed as the UAA Co-Player of the Year while garnering first-team all-conference kudos.

Schner helped Emory to an overall record of 22-5 including a first-place tying mark of 11-3 in the University Athletic Association.  The league leader in minutes average (34.1 mpg), Schner stood fourth among conference players with a 15.5 points-per-game average, posting double-figure scoring on 23 occasions.  His 7.4 per-game effort in rebounding ranked sixth in the league, and he paced the Eagles in the category in 13 outings. He converted 53.4 percent (148-of-277) of his field goal attempts, fifth in the league, and held down the No. 1 position in three-point shooting, draining 47.4 percent 55-of-116) of his triple tries with that mark good for sixth place on the program's seasonal ladder.

Named the UAA Player of the Week twice during the season, he finished second on the team and sixth in the loop in assists average (2.9 apg) and closed out the campaign fifth on the conference list in steals (1.4 spg).
