Pearce Honored on Two All-Region Second Teams; Named Region 6 Rookie of the Year by d3hoops.com

Emory University men's basketball freshman standout Benjamin Pearce was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as well as d3hoops.com Tuesday afternoon, earning All-Region acclaim by both organizations. Pearce was named to the Second Team by both outlets and was tabbed as the Region's Rookie of the Year by d3hoops.com.

The NABC and d3hoops.com recognition comes on the heels of additional season accolades for Pearce, as he was tabbed as the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year and an All-UAA First Team selection earlier this month.

Pearce started all 26 games during his rookie season and led the Eagles in scoring, ball distribution and three-point shooting. He finished fifth in the nation amongst all freshmen and was second in the UAA at 18.0 points per game and established a new Emory rookie scoring record with 468 points – the ninth-highest point total in a single-season in program history. In addition to his scoring prowess, Pearce finished inside top-5 in the UAA in assists per game (4th, 4.5), field goals made (2nd, 128), free throw percentage (2nd, 82.8%), three-pointers per game (4th, 2.38), and assist-to-turnover ratio (5th, 1.70).

Pearce becomes the 11th Eagle in program history to earn NABC All-Region acclaim and joins Tim Garrett (1987) as the only freshmen in team history to earn the honor. He is also the 11th player in team history to be honored by d3hoops.com, becoming the first freshman in team history to earn All-Region acclaim by the website and is the first-ever Eagle to be selected as the region's Rookie of the Year by the website.
