Adrian Sosa came off the bench to score 18 points, 11 over the final 20 minutes of action, including two free throws with 13 seconds remaining, to lead the Eagles to a win at home over Washington.

Sosa made a career-best 10 of 11 free throws, and connected on two of four three pointers to reach his career-high point total.  Spiros Ferderigos contributed 18 points of his own, including four treys. Junior Eric Barvin proved to be a force down low, finishing with 11 points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Eagles did not turn the ball over during the first half, while its aggressive defense came up with nine steals and forcing 13 WU turnovers in claiming a 44-26 halftime lead.  Holding a 22-19 edge with 8:36 left in the opening stanza, Emory held the Bears scorless for a 4:21 stretch while rattling off 13 straight points, keyed by seven points by Ferderigos and three-pointers by Sosa and Johnny Pinto, to bolt to a 35-19 bulge.  Two makes from the line by Sosa would propel Emory what would be its largest margin of the contest, 44-22, with 1:17 left before heading into the break.

A triple by Pinto kept Emory ahead by 20 points, 56-36 with 14:14 remaining in the game, and the Eagles still maintained a 14-point cushion with 7:47 on the clock.  However, WU cut its deficit in half following a 7-0 spurt.  After a Sosa trey enabled Emory to regain a double-digit lead, nine straight Bear points drew the visitors to within 71-70 with 72 ticks on the clock. After the teams exchanged free throws, Sosa calmly converted a pair from the stripe, boosting Emory a 74-71 lead with 13 seconds left. The Bears had a chance to knot the score but an attempt by Troy Ruths in the waning moments missed the mark, allowing Emory to improve its overall record to 8-5.
