Men's Soccer Faces Carnegie Mellon, #11 CWRU in Final Homestand; Senior Day Set for Sunday

Coming off a win at Berry on Sunday, the Emory University Men's Soccer team looks to keep the momentum going as the team hosts Carnegie Mellon University and 11th-ranked Case Western Reserve University in the final home weekend of the regular season. Kickoff against the Tartans is set for 5:00 PM on Friday with the match against the Spartans slated to begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday.

Senior Day Set for Sunday

Prior to the match against CWRU, the Eagles will honor their five-member senior class of Aidan Datené, Moustafa Khattab, Tyler Santee, Michael Stier and Tyler Walsh with a special on-field ceremony. These five seniors have guided Emory to a 43-21-6 record over the past four seasons and the team's first trip to the NCAA Elite Eight since 1988.

Khattab leads the Eagles this season with six goals and seven assists for 19 points and is one point shy of back-to-back 20-point campaigns. Datené and Stier each added goals in the team's 3-1 win on Sunday against the Vikings. Datené now ranks fifth on the squad with five points while the marker was Stier's first of 2018.

Carnegie Mellon University (9-3-2, 1-3-0 UAA)

The Tartans are coming off a 2-0 win at home against Thomas More on October 18th to raise their record to 9-3-2 overall. CMU has seen four players reach double figures on the season, led by junior midfielder Elliot Cohen, Cohen, along with senior forward Zack Masciopinto, top the team with six goals apiece while Cohen has dished out three assists to give him a team-leading 15 points. Senior Alec Lam and sophomore Alex Singh have split goalkeeping duties for CMU with Lam starting nine games, posting a 0.94 GAA, a .769 save percentage and is 5-3-1 in his starts. Singh has seen action in five matches, going 4-0-1 with a 0.43 GAA and a .833 save percentage. The Tartans are led by fifth-year Head Coach Brandon Bowman who is 51-20-13 with the team and is assisted by Jonathan Velotta and Scott Backus.

11th-ranked Case Western Reserve University (12-2-1, 2-1-1 UAA)

The Spartans have lost just once over their last 13 games, going 11-1-1 including a win over top-ranked Chicago on October 14th. Four players have shouldered the load offensively, combining for 25 of the team's 37 goals on the year led by seven markers off the foot of junior midfielder Garrett Winter. In addition to Winter, Zachary Senft, Alex Besl and Seldon Magruder have each netted six goals for the Spartans with Senft adding a team-leading six assists to give him a team-best 18 points. CWRU is led by Head Coach Brandon Bianco who is in his sixth season with the program, recording an overall record of 51-37-16. He is assisted Chris Black and Charlie Reymann.

All-Time Series Records

Carnegie Mellon leads the all-time series 12-11-8 however the two teams have matched up evenly the past few seasons, playing to five straight ties including a 2-2 draw most recently on October 27th, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Emory owns a 26-4-1 overall record over the Spartans but CWRU has had the edge in the last three meetings, going 2-1 including a 3-2 win in double overtime in Cleveland, OH last season.
