The Emory University men's soccer team placed four members on the All-University Athletic Association Team as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon. Senior Jun Tsuru, junior Nate Sampson and freshman Alejandro Gomez highlighted the Eagles with Second Team selections with senior William Jones adding Honorable Mention acclaim.
Tsuru earns his first All-UAA honor after recording two goals and one assist for five points in his final season donning blue and gold. Tsuru notched goals in the team's win over Rhodes and draw with Rochester and added his assist in the win over Mary-Hardin Baylor. Tsuru played in all in but two contests, drawing 14 starts, and finished third on the team with 10 shots on goal.
Sampson is another first time All-UAA honoree after putting forth his best season to date with the Eagles. Sampson was the go-to option for Emory in the offensive zone as he led the team with six goals and 13 points, both figures marking career-highs while finishing inside the top-three in the UAA for both category. Sampson added a conference-leading 62 shots and 30 shots on goal and registered three game-winning goals in wins over MHB, Covenant and Piedmont.
Gomez rounds out the Eagles that earned Second Team honors after tying for the UAA lead with five assists. Gomez played in all 18 games as a freshman, making 15 starts, and ranked second on the team with nine points, 35 shots and 14 shots on goal. Both of his first two collegiate goals came in UAA victories against WashU and Brandeis.
Jones makes his second straight appearance on the All-Association Team after drawing Second Team kudos as a junior. Jones was one of two Eagles to start every game during the season and totaled one goal, the game-winner against Sewanee, and helped the Eagles turn in six clean sheets.
Emory ended the season with a 9-5-4 overall record, the team's 18th consecutive winning season.
