Prior to Emory:

Was a four-year member of the Harvard-Westlake swim team, serving as a team captain during his senior year... Set his high school's record in the 200 and 500 free and the 400 free relay... Recorded career-best times of 1:41.61 in the 200 free, 4:35.04 in the 500 free and 47.1 in the 100 free... Coached in high school was Jonathan Carroll, Max Jaber and Haley Anderson... Also swam for the Los Angeles Swim Club, where he was coached by Jason Schwarz and Tim Sharpe.

Personal:

Born March 23rd... Twin brother of teammate John Copses... Was an AP Scholar in high school.

Why he chose Emory:

"I chose Emory because I wanted to attend a school that combined my love of swimming with good academics and a business program.  Emory fit the bill perfectly, and I enjoyed my visits."
