Emory University senior Oliver Smith was named the University Athletic Association Men's Swimmer of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. It is the second time this season Smith has earned the weekly award and the fifth time in his career.
Smith tallied Emory's lone individual event win in Friday's dual meet loss to Division II's Florida Southern College, winning the 50 Freestyle in a time of 21.30. Smith added an event victory as a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay as Smith, Sage Ono, Aaron Schwartz and Trey Kolleck touched in at 1:23.95. Smith also swam the anchor leg in the 400 Medley Relay as Emory placed second at 3:31.09.
The Eagles are back in action this Saturday, January 20th with a tri-meet against Delta State and West Florida, beginning at 12:00 PM EST in Cleveland, Mississippi.
