Emory Men's Swimming & Diving Lands 22 on UAA 30th Anniversary Team

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving team has placed 22 current and former student-athletes on the University Athletic Association's 30th Anniversary Team, announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.

The Eagles have won every Association title since 1999 and captured the first-ever NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving National Championship in program history last spring.

The 30th Anniversary team consists of each student-athlete who met these qualifications: named UAA Swimmer of the Year, UAA Diver of the Year, won an individual event at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, or won the same event at least three times at the UAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Among the Eagles honored was Andrew Wilson, who is the program's most decorated swimmer with 10 national titles including six individually, earned UAA Swimmer of the Year and NCAA Division III Men's Swimming Diving and Championships Most Outstanding Performer honors in 2015 and 2017 and was a two-time NCAA Division III At-Large Academic All-American of the Year.

In addition to Wilson, senior swimmer Oliver Smith is the only current member of the Emory Eagles named to the Anniversary team. Smith is the reigning two-time national champion in the 50 Freestyle and has won an additional six national titles in relay events.

Other Emory honorees include (Emory Hall of Famers in BOLD): Thomas Aliberti (1990 UAA Swimmer of the Year), Patrick Augustyn (NCAA Champion in the 200 Butterfly (2011, 2012) and the 100 Butterfly in 2012), Ryan Bass (4x UAA 50 Freestyle Champion), Keith Diggs (2008 400 IM NCAA Champion), Miller Douglas (2013 200 Butterfly NCAA Champion), Justin Hake (2006 100 Butterfly NCAA Champion), Chris Halstead (2004, 2005 200 Backstroke NCAA Champion and 3x UAA 100 Backstroke champion), Richard Kinnett (3x UAA 1,650 Freestyle Champion), Mike Klein (2x UAA Diver of the Year), Jeff Klug (2000 UAA Swimmer of the Year), Daniel Kolb (2011 UAA Diver of the Year), Tim Newton (2006 500 Freestyle NCAA Champion), Peter O'Brien (2012 UAA Swimmer of the Year), Chris Radpour (2x UAA Diver of the Year, 1989 IM Dive NCAA Champion, 2x 3M Dive NCAA Champion), Christopher Rendall (1999 UAA Swimmer of the Year), Fred Schreiber (1999 UAA Swimmer of the Year, 4x UAA 100 Backstroke Champion, 3x UAA 200 IM Champion), Ross Spock (2014 200 Backstroke NCAA Champion), Matt Spooner (2011 UAA Swimmer of the Year), John Stutter (2004 UAA Swimmer of the Year) and Chip Villarreal (1993 UAA Swimmer of the Year).
