Delta State Edges Men's Swimming & Diving, 160-140, at West Florida

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving team continued its dual meet portion of the schedule Saturday morning, falling to Division II's Delta State University, 160-140, on the campus of University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida.

The Eagles claimed event wins in five of the 16 events contested in the morning with freshman Zach Lorson leading the way with a pair of victories. Lorson took first in both the 1000 Free and 400 IM, recording times of 9:33.98 and 4:02.31, respectively.

Adding event wins for the Eagles on Saturday was sophomore Kellen Stillman in the 200 Free (1:43.55), senior Trey Kolleck in the 100 Free (45.75) and freshman Lucas Bumgarner in the one-meter dive (309.80- NCAA B Cut).

In addition to the five event victories, the Eagles registered eight second place finishes and another 12 third place efforts. Turning in silver showings was Bumgarner in the 3-meter dive (282.80), senior Thomas Gordon in the 1000 Free (9:37.03), junior Sage Ono in the 100 Back (50.74), freshman Jason Hamilton in the 100 Breast (59.57), Kolleck in the 50 Free (20.87), freshman Hwa Min Sim in the 100 Fly (50.74) and both relay teams of Ono, Sim, Kolleck, freshman Tyler Russell in the 200 Medley (1:33.32) and Ono, Kolleck, senior Zachary Chen and freshman Colin LaFave in the 200 Free (1:23.18).

Emory will be back in the pool next Saturday with another dual meet next Saturday, January, 26th against Division III foe Centre College, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Woodruff PE Center. Prior to the start of the meet, Emory will honor its senior class with a special ceremony.
