Men's Swimming & Diving Breezes to Senior Day Win Over Centre

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving program celebrated Senior Day Saturday afternoon, breezing to a win over Centre College at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Eagles won going away, sweeping all 16 events contested to defeat the Colonels 188-95. Prior to the start of the meet the Eagles honored its entire 15-member senior class of Hannah Baratz, Zachary Chen, Tyler Curran, Ashley Daniels, Julia Durmer, Thomas Gordon, Alex Kohlman, Trey Kolleck, Anya Koné, Hannah Lally, Patrick Leonard, Fiona Muir, Matt Rogers, Meg Taylor and Matt Varraveto with a special on-deck ceremony.

Chen and sophomore Kellen Stillman led the way for the Eagles on Saturday, earning a pair of solo victories. Chen touched first in both the 100 Back (51.89) and 200 Breast (2:10.07) while Stillman was a winner in the 200 Free (1:42.14) and 100 Free (47.02).

Other seniors in addition to Chen to notch wins at the meet were Kolleck in the 50 Free (21.20), Rogers in the 200 Back (1:53.85) and Gordon in the 500 Free (4:39.87).

Six freshman rounded out the event winners for the Eagles on Saturday with Jason Hamilton in the 1000 Free (9:41.96), Colin LaFave in the 100 Breast (59.32), Zach Lorson in the 200 Fly (1:54.94), Hwa Min Sim in the 100 Fly (50.94), and Pat Pema in the 200 IM (1:56.91).

Emory also saw the 200 Medley Relay of LaFave, Gordon and freshman Tyler Russell and Will O'Daffer record a winning time of 1:34.98 and the group of Kolleck, Leonard, O'Daffer and Will Schuler won the 400 Free Relay in the final event of the meet, clocking in at 3:09.35.

The Eagles continue dual meet action next Saturday, February 2nd with a matchup against the University of Georgia. Events begin at 11:00 AM in Athens, GA.
