Bumgarner Earns All-UAA Honors in 1-Meter Diving as UAA Championships Begin in Chicago

Members of the Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving program were in action Wednesday as the University Athletic Association Championships got underway in Chicago, IL.

Freshman Lucas Bumgarner highlighted Emory's diving trio in the first event of the meet, earning All-UAA honors in the 1-meter, 11-dives event. After recording a career-high score of 512.60 to finish with the top overall score in preliminaries, Bumgarner earned a second place finish in the finals session, posting a mark of 472.10. Carnegie Mellon's Gabriel Bamforth won the event with his score of 499.25.

Junior Trevor Burke joined Bumgarner in the finals as he was one of eight divers to qualify for the evening session. Burke placed sixth overall with a mark of 412.65.

Freshman Colin Stelmach rounded out the Emory divers in action on Wednesday, finishing 10th overall with a prelims score of 373.70.

The UAA Championships continue on Thursday with the 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 400 Medley Relay and women's 3-meter diving. Prelims begin at 10:00 AM with the finals to follow at 5:30 PM. All times are listed in Central Standard Time.
