Emory University senior Anya Koné and freshman Pat Pema were chosen as the University Athletic Association Co-Athletes of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. It is the first career weekly honor for both swimmers.
Koné went two-for-two in events she swam in at the Midwest Invitational over the weekend, touching first with a NCAA B Cut time of 2:05.77 in the 200 IM before claiming the win in the 100 Backstroke at 57.68.
Pema also was a two-time winner over the weekend at the invite, going two-for-two as well with both times meeting NCAA qualifying standards. Pema touched first in the 200 IM at 1:51.26 and later in the 200 Backstroke at 1:49.13. Pema would also record a faster time in the 200 Back, touching at 1:48.07 during time trials.
The Eagles finished in fourth place on the men’s side and fifth on the women’s at the meet.
