Emory University sophomore Lucas Bumgarner headlines the Eagles at the NCAA Division III Region 2 Diving Championships this weekend in San Antonio, Texas. The regional is hosted by Trinity University (TX).
Bumgarner will be one of six male divers from the Midwest, South and West regions to compete this Friday and Saturday in Texas, vying for positions at next month's NCAA Championships alongside other divers from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Birmingham-Southern, Trinity and Pomona-Pitzer.
Friday features the men's 3-meter event beginning at 2:00 PM local time followed by the 1-meter competition on Saturday starting at noon local. Live results can be found on DiveMeets.com.
Bumgarner is coming off a UAA Championships performance that helped the Eagle capture their 22nd consecutive conference championship. Bumgarner swept both diving events, setting school records in both events as he was named the UAA Men's Diver of the Year for a second time.
The NCAA Region 2 Diving regional allows for two allocations with the breakdown as follows: winner of day one's event and highest finisher on day two, not already qualified.
