FINALS BOUND - Andrew Wilson Qualifies for Olympic Finals in 100m Breaststroke

MAKING WAVES AT THE OLYMPICS - EMORY NEWS FEATURE

Former Emory University swimmer Andrew Wilson will have an opportunity to swim for an Olympic medal after qualifying for the finals of the 100m Breaststroke at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Wilson was eighth in the semifinals of the 100m Breaststroke, posting a time of 59.18, and will be one of eight swimmers competing in the medal finals at the Tokyo Aquatics Center. The 100m Breaststroke final is scheduled to occur at 10:12 PM EDT on Sunday, July 25 and will be shown live on local NBC affiliates and NBCOlympics.com.

Wilson was fifth in the second of two semifinal heats and will be one of two Americans in the medal final, joining Michael Andrew who was fifth after the semis with his time of 58.99. Great Britain’s Adam Peaty (57.63), Netherlands’ Arno Kamminga (58.19) and Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi (58.28) were the top three finishers in the semifinals.
