Emory Men's Tennis Ranked No. 1 In Oracle/ITA National Poll

The Emory men's tennis team holds down the No. 1 position in the first Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III National Rankings.

Head coach John Browning and his squad enter the upcoming spring season as defending D-III national champions after finishing the 2017 campaign with an overall slate of 22-4, which included a victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the finals of the national championships.

At the conclusion of the fall portion of the schedule, the Eagles had five players ranked among the top 50 in singles, headlined by junior Jonathan Jemison who was slotted in the No. 4 spot. Jemison, who compiled a 27-6 singles ledger last year, captured the 2017 ITA South Regional singles title.  Other Eagles who are ranked in singles include sophomore Rex Serituk (#21), senior James Spaulding (#30), freshman Hayden Cassone (#40) and junior Adrien Bouchet (#44).

Emory is well represented in the national rankings in doubles, with three teams ranked among the Top 25 – Bouchet and freshman Will Wanner (#5), Jemison and Cassone (#16) and Spaulding and senior Scott Rubinstein (#21).

Emory will open its spring schedule on Feb. 10 when it hosts Georgia Gwinnett College, the four-time defending NAIA national champion.  After that bout against the Grizzlies, the Eagles will look to defend their title at the ITA National Indoor Championships, Feb. 23-25, in St. Peter, Minnesota.
