No. 1 Emory Men's Tennis Defeats Johns Hopkins

The Emory men's tennis team opened a home weekend of action on Saturday with a victory over Johns Hopkins.  The No. 1-ranked Eagles won for the third straight time and boosted their season record to 10-2 following a 9-0 decision over the No. 17 Blue Jays who slipped to 5-2.

Highlighting the Eagles' effort in doubles was the No. 3 tandem of junior Jonathan Jemison and freshman Hayden Cassone who ran their win streak to seven matches and raised their season record to 14-2 after battling to a 9-7 outcome over Austin Gu and Joe Cartledge.

Emory won all six singles encounters in straight sets, with Andrew Harrington's 6-0, 6-0 triumph over David Perez at No.5 his 12th in 14 decisions this year.  At first singles, Jemison came away with a 6-2, 6-4, verdict against Vishnu Joshi while freshman Hayden Cassone registered a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Eric Yoo raising his season slate to 17-3.  Other singles included junior Adrien Bouchet at No. 4 and seniors Alec Josepher and Scott Rubinstein at Nos. 3 & 6, respectively.

Emory returns to the courts on Sunday (Apr. 11) when it hosts DePauw in a 10:00 am start.
