No. 1 Emory Men's Tennis Tops No. 6 Amherst

The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team won its seventh straight match and raised its record to 14-2 following an 8-1 win at No. 7-ranked Amherst on Friday evening.

In doubles, the No. 3 tandem of junior Jonathan Jemison and Cassone won for the 11th straight time, raising their mark to 18-2 in the process, after blanking Oliver Kendall and Jesse Levitin, 8-0.  Junior Adrian Bouchet and senior Max Renke were victorious at the No. 2 spot while senior Scott Rubinstein and junior James Spaulding nailed down their 17th triumph of the campaign at the No. 1 post with an 8-5 outcome vs. Sean Wei and Jayson Fung.

At third singles, senior Alec Josepher battled to a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, triumph over Fung while Bouchet came out on the right end of a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, verdict against Levitin at No. 4, his 12th victory of the season in 15 decisions. Freshman Hayden Cassone won for the eighth straight time after manufacturing a 6-4, 6-4, win at No. 2 against Kevin Ma , while senior Andrew Harrington moved to 16-2 on the year after rolling to a 6-1, 6-1, triumph at No. 5 over Jon Heidenberg.  Rubinstein accounted for the other singles win at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1, vs. Kendall.

Emory will square off against No. 6 Middlebury (14-3) on Saturday afternoon, with the match taking place on the campus of Trinity College (CT).
