Jemison Captures ITA South Region Singles Crown -- Teams With Bouchet For Doubles Title

RESULTS

Emory senior Jonathan Jemison defended his singles title and teamed with classmate Adrien Bouchet to bring home the doubles crown on the final day of action at the ITA South Region Championships.  The event was held at the Rome Tennis Center and hosted by Berry College.

Jemison opened with a 6-2, 6-3, triumph over Ritwik Chatterjee of Rhodes College in the semifinals before defeating freshman teammate Andrew Esses, 6-3, 6-0, in the championship affair. Esses moved into the final after posting a 6-2, 6-3, semifinal-round decision over Bouchet.  Emory has now won 12 of the last 13 ITA South Region singles titles.

In the showdown for the doubles championship, Jemison and Bouchet came out on top of a three-set battle against fellow Eagles James Spaulding and Hayden Cassone, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.  It marked the second straight year that Bouchet had been part of a doubles title.

By virtue of their first-place finishes, Jemison and Bocuhet advance to the ITA Cup, Oct. 11-14, at the Rome Tennis Center.

In the B Singles final, sophomore Alec Rabinowitz bested freshman teammate Connor Genschaw, 7-5, 6-4, to win that portion of the competition.
