Emory University senior James Spaulding (Winnetka, IL) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Men's Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Eagles to a win at No. 2 Middlebury. It is the first time this season and second in his career that he has been selected for the award.
James Spaulding picked up a pair of wins as the No. 3-ranked Emory men's side registered a 6-3 victory over the Panthers.
Spaulding, along with Will Wanner, accounted for the first point of the match with an 8-3 triumph at No. 2 doubles over the Panthers' Noah Farrell and Peter Martin, their 13th win in 14 decisions this year.
After sweeping the doubles portion of the match, Spaulding pushed the Eagles to a 4-0 advantage with his 6-2, 6-3 verdict over Nate Eazor at No. 6 singles.
Emory, 12-2 on the spring, returns to action on Thursday (Apr. 11) when it plays at Middle Georgia.
