2019 NCAA D-III MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS WEBSITE

No. 3-ranked Emory University will take on 7th-ranked Washington University in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships on Monday, May 20.  This year's Championships will be held at Stowe Stadium located on the campus of Kalamazoo College and at Western Michigan University's Sorensen Courts. The Emory-WU clash will take place at Stowe Stadium with the start taking place no earlier than 4:30 pm

Emory enters Monday's match with wins in its last 15 outings which has raised its record to 19-2.  The Eagles advanced to the quarterfinals after hosting the second and third rounds this past weekend where they registered a 5-0 second-round decision over Washington and Lee followed by a 5-1 triumph over No. 23 North Carolina Wesleyan.  

Emory has three singles players slotted among the top 10 in the Atlantic South Region including senior Jonathan Jemison (20-4) at No. 1, senior Adrien Bouchet (21-3) at No. 5 and sophomore Hayden Cassone (15-7) at No. 8.  In addition, Jemison and Bouchet are the No. 1-ranked doubles team in the Region with the tandem posting a 25-5 record.

Over the past 30 years the Eagles have advanced to at least the quarterfinals on 28 occasions. Emory has earned a spot in the national semifinals in 13 of the past 17 seasons and won national crowns in 2003, 2006, 2012 and 2017.

Wash U claims a won-lost slate of 19-7 and advanced into the quarterfinals after hosting and defeating Rose-Hulman (6-0) and No. 27-ranked Kalamazoo College (5-0) in regional action last weekend.

The two teams met earlier this season (Apr. 27) in the semifinals of the University Athletic Association Championships where the Eagles prevailed by a 5-3 count.

The winning team will advance to the national semifinals on Tuesday where it will square off against the winner of No. 6-ranked Middlebury and No. 5 Wesleyan (CT).  The national title will be decided on Wednesday at 3:00 pm (EDT).
