Senior Jonathan Jemison captured his opening two singles matches at the NCAA D-III Championships on Friday. The Championships are being held in Kalamazoo, Michigan and hosted by Kalamazoo College.
Jemison opened with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Ian Yi of Kalamazoo College before defeating Varun Shanker of Caltech, 6-2, 6-4. Jemison, 23-5 in singles action this season will meet Yangeng Jiang of Bowdoin in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Sophomore Hayden Cassone won his first singles encounter with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 outcome over Wesleyan's (CT) Andrew Finkelman before losing in the second round to Washington University's Bernardo Neves, 1-6, 4-6, ending his year with a ledger of 16-11. Senior Adrien Bouchet also participated in the Singles Championship, dropping a 3-6, 2-6 decision to Leo Vithoontien of Carleton. Bouchet ended the 2018-19 campaign with an overall record of 23-4.
In doubles, Jemison and Bouchet have moved into the quarterfinals after winning their opening match against Carleton's Vithoontien and Jordon O'Kelly.
