Mora Claims ITA South Region Singles Title - Teams With Wanner For Doubles Crown

Emory sophomore Antonio Mora played his way to the singles title and then teamed with junior Will Wanner to bring home the doubles crown on the final day of action at the ITA South Region Championships.  The event was held at the Rome Tennis Center and hosted by Berry College.

Mora opened with a 6-3, 6-1, triumph over Andres Carro of Sewanee in the semifinals before defeating classmate and teammate Andrew Esses, 6-4, 6-1, in the championship affair. Esses moved into the final after posting a 7-5, 6-4, semifinal-round decision over Jordan Brewer of Sewanee.  Emory has now won 13 of the last 14 ITA South Region singles titles.

In the showdown for the doubles championship, Mora and Wanner came out on top against North Carolina Wesleyan's Aditay Iyer and Roberto Puig, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, trailing by a 2-6 count in the tie breakder before rallying for the victory.

By virtue of their first-place finishes, Mora and Wanner advance to the ITA Cup, Oct. 17-20, at the Rome Tennis Center.

In the B Singles final, freshman Michael Moll bested freshman teammate Samuel Dean, 6-4, 6-4, to win that portion of the competition.

In the B Doubles final, Moll and William Coupe topped Aubrey Davis and Hamza Khan of Sewanee.
