Emory Men's Tennis Blanks Babson --  NCAA D-III Championships Bound

The Emory men's tennis team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAAD-III Championships following a 5-0 victory over Babson on Sunday in the regional finals. Serving as the host site of the opening rounds of the NCAA Championships was the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.

For the second straight postseason outing, the Eagles took a stranglehold on the match after sweeping the doubles portion of the competiion.  The No. 1 tandem of Hayden Cassone and Noah Shah registered an 8-5 decision over Kian Yazdi and Maxwell Conlin while the No. 3 duo of Andrew Esses and Sahil Raina came through with an 8-2 triumph against Sebastian Bucarion and Parker Law.  At second doubles, Will Wanner and Alec Rabinowitz raised their record to 2-0 after notching an 8-5 win against Jason Weisman and Nicholas Garcia.  

Looking for two wins at singles to seal the outcome, Emory received those in short order with Esses rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 outcome at No. 2 over Weisman while Rabinowitz saw his record improve to 4-0 after his 6-1, 6-1, win against Gabriel Cestero at No. 5.

The win allowed Emory to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships for the 21st staright year that the event has been contested.  Emory, 7-3 on the season, will battle Brandeis (8-1) in the quarters on May 24 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
