Men's Tennis Downs Gustavus Adolphus, 5-0, in Seventh-Place Match

The Emory University men's tennis team defeated Gustavus Adolphus, 5-0, in the seventh-place match of the ITA National Team Indoors Championships Sunday afternoon in Mayfield, OH.

The Eagles were in full control on the final day of the tournament as they secured their first win of the spring season.

Senior Antonio Mora and sophomore Ryan Glanville set the stage with an 8-3 win on court two in a tidy 27 minutes before sophomores Nolan Shah and Sujay Sharma recorded the 8-4 win 17 minutes later on court three. Seniors Andrew Esses and Sahil Raina completed the double sweep, taking care of business 8-7 at first doubles.

In singles play, Shah inched Emory closer to the win with a 6-0, 6-1 49-minute clinic on court three before doubles partner Sharma closed the deal with his 6-3, 6-4 victory on court four.

At the conclusion of the match, the Eagles held leads on courts two and six with Esses in front 7-5, 1-0 and Brandon Cohen leading 6-3, 2-2.

Next up for John Browning's squad will be Saturday, March 12th at home against Rhodes College.
