Three From Emory Men's Tennis Selected to NCAA Individual Championships

The Emory University men's tennis team saw three members selected to the NCAA Individual Championships Wednesday night when selections were announced on NCAA.com.

Senior Antonio Mora will lead the Eagles in the singles draw, earning a nod to his first-ever NCAA singles tournament after competing in the doubles championships a year ago. In doubles, the tandem of senior Andrew Esses and sophomore Nolan Shah will represent the blue and gold as both players will make their NCAA Individual Championships debut. In addition, Esses was named as one of four singles alternates and will enter the field if players need to withdraw from competition.

Mora is one of five Eagles to rack up double-digit wins in singles this year, going 10-13 overall. In the spring, Mora has earned five wins in 16 matches at the No. 1 position and is coming off a straight set victory over WashU's Abhi Ramireddy in the UAA third place match.

For the Esses and Shah duo, they have registered a team-best 8-3 record since beginning their run together this spring while playing at the No. 1 position. They went 2-1 at the UAA Championships as Emory finished fourth.

The NCAA Individual Championships are set to take place May 27-29 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL.

The Eagles will begin the team portion of the NCAA postseason this weekend, travelling to the University of Mary Washington for the opening rounds. Emory is set to match up with the host UMW Eagles Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in Fredericksburg, VA.
