Men's Track & Field Finish Third at Emory Classic

The Emory University Men's Track and Field finished third out the 21 schools at the Emory Classic this past weekend in Atlanta. The Eagles registered 77 points across the two-days of competition.

Junior Charlie Hu was the leading individual point scorer for Emory over the weekend as the junior led the Blue and Gold in the field events, scoring in four events. Hu turned in a first place finish in the triple jump at 14.02m and added top-eight performances in the javelin (5th, 47.11m), long jump (7th, 6.57m) and high jump (8th, 1.79m).

The Eagles added 18 points in the 4x800m Relay event, sweeping the top-two times at the meet. The group of senior Michael McBane, juniors Robert Wilhelm III, Max Brown and freshman Samuel Branson was first in a time of 7:53.54 with the second place squad of junior Greg Litle, seniors Brandon Cromer, Jake Schlessinger and sophomore Ian George checking at 8:14.61.

Sophomore Bennett Shaw and senior Michael Sisario each collected top-five finishes in the 5000m Run with Shaw taking second at 15:26.83 and Sisario placing fifth in a time of 15:44.63. Brown, McBane and Branson all recorded top-five finishes as well in the 1500m Run with Brown coming in third under four minutes at 3:58.86, McBane in fourth at 4:02.14 and Branson in fifth at 4:02.42.

In the hurdle events, junior Benjamin Rogin scored in each to pace Emory. Rogin was fourth in the 110 with a time of 15.20 and clocked a 55.27 in the 400m. Rogin also ran as the anchor on the Eagles' 4x100m Relay team with senior Kyle Veator, junior Max Helfman and freshman Aria Mohseni. The group finished seventh overall in a time of 42.85.

Also scoring for the Eagles at the meet was freshman Alex Campbell in the 3000m Steeplechase (5th, 10:40.07) and Cromer in the 800m Run (8th, 1:58.55).

Emory returns to action next weekend with the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point University.
