Emory Men's Track & Field Compete at VertKlasse Meeting

The Emory University Men's Track and Field team was in action over the weekend, competing at the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point University. There was no team scoring at the meet which featured 1,500 athletes from 47 different schools, comprised mostly of Division I performers.

Sophomore Bennett Shaw led the Eagles in the track events as he posted a third place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing in a time of 9:38.77. Other leaders for Emory at the two-day meet included senior Michael McBane in the 1500m Run (17th, 4:03.60), senior Casey Rhode in the 10000m Run (17th, 15:47.08), freshman Luis Torres in the 5000m Run (20th, 15:47.08), senior Brandon Cromer in the 800m Run (29th, 1:59.94), senior Kyle Veator in the both the 100m (33rd, 11.16) and 200m (40th, 22.72) Dashes and freshman Alex Rand in the 400m Dash (61st, 54.35).

In the field events, freshman Jackson Hoit was eighth in the javelin with a mark of 48.73m with junior Charlie Hu placing 16th overall in the triple jump (13.66m) and Veator finishing 17th in the long jump (6.52m).

Emory will be back in action next weekend with the Berry Field Day Invitational as well as the Tiger Classic at Auburn University.
