Emory Men's Track & Field Trio Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT RELEASE

The Emory University Men's Track and Field junior trio of Max Brown, Benjamin Rogin and Charlie Hu has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Team Thursday afternoon as announced by the organization.

The Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

Brown makes his second consecutive appearance on the Academic All-District team following his junior campaign. Brown qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in the Mile for the second straight season after earning All-America honors in the event as a sophomore. Brown added All-UAA honors in the Mile at the UAA Indoor Championships. In his career, Brown is a two-time All-UAA indoor finisher, was an All-UAA outdoor finisher in the 4x800m Relay (2015) and 1500m Run (2016), a five-time USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region selection and a 2016 Outdoor USTFCCCA All-Region in the 800m Run. In addition, Brown is a two-time UAA All-Academic Winter and Spring selection. Brown carries a 3.45 grade-point average while majoring in Physics.

Rogin joins Brown as a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, having also earned the honor as a sophomore. During his junior season, Rogin defended his UAA Outdoor 100m Hurdles title to become a three-time All-UAA finisher in the event. At the UAA Indoor Championships, Rogin took second in the 55m Hurdles and previously, captured the 2015 UAA Indoor Championship in the 60m Hurdles and finished third in the event as a sophomore. Earlier this month, Rogin was tabbed to the USTFCCCA All-South/Southeast Outdoor All-Region in the 100m Hurdles and is a two-time Winter and Spring UAA All-Academic selection. Rogin carries a 3.58 GPA as a Business major.

Hu makes his first appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team after a tremendous junior season. Hu was named the 2017 UAA Indoor Field Performer of the Year after being crowned the Triple Jump champion and finishing second in the Long Jump. He added a Triple Jump title at the 2017 UAA Outdoor Championships as he finished as the leading point scorer for the Eagles at the meet. Previously in his career, Hu was an All-UAA indoor performer in the triple jump in 2016 and an All-UAA outdoor finisher in the Triple Jump in both 2015 and 2016. He has been named to the USTFCCCA All-Region teams in Triple Jump in both indoors (2016) and outdoors (2017) and is a two-time UAA Winter and Spring All-Academic Team selection. Hu owns a .360 GPA as a Business and Computer Science dual major.

All three student-athletes will now be placed on the national ballot for a chance to be named an Academic All-American. The CoSIDA Academic All-America Cross Country/Track and Field teams will be announced on Wednesday, June 21st.
