Men's Track & Field Finishes Fourth at Home Classic

The Emory University Men's Track and Field team continued its outdoor schedule this weekend with the Emory Classic at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta. The Eagles scored 64 points across the two-day meet to come in fourth place in the team standings.

Three second place finishes led the way on Friday evening with senior Bennett Shaw in the steeplechase (9:39.56), freshman Patrick Crockett in the javelin (52.08m) and the 4x800m Relay team of Matthew Burke, John Cox, Samuel Branson and Jon Marcus (8:11.76).

The Eagles added scoring performance in four individual events with sophomore Liam Fost in the 400m Dash (4th, 48.36), sophomore Thomas Perretta in the 800m Run (6th, 1:56.53), sophomore Jacob Hedgepeth (4th, 4:02.23) and freshman Spencer Moore (6th, 4:03.66) in the 1500m Run and the trio of Jack Whetstone (4th, 15:24.61), Matthew Dillon (6th, 15:27.64) and Egan Kattenberg (8th, 15:33.45) in the 5000m Run.

Emory also saw a pair of fifth place showings in the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays with the group of Fost, Jacob Solomon, Alex Rand and Mason Lewis posting a time of 43.03 in the 4x1 and Fost, Rand, Perretta and Matthew White clocking in a time of 3:20.51 in the 4x4.

Next up for the Eagles will be the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University next Friday and Saturday.
