Fost, Henshey Win Conference Titles on Final Day of UAA Championships

Sophomore Liam Fost and freshman Brett Henshey captured conference titles in record-setting fashion on the final day of the 2019 UAA Outdoor Championship as the Emory men's track and field team placed seventh overall at the meet with 67 team points.

In one of the more exciting races on the afternoon, Fost won gold in the 400m Dash with a UAA record mark of 47.19, eclipsing former Eagle Daniel Pietsch's record time of 47.50 from the 2016 championship meet. Fost's time edged out WashU's John Harry Wagner and NYU's Malcolm Montilus times of 47.37 and 47.42 to win the event.

In the high jump, Henshey set new UAA and Emory records with his championship-winning height of 2.10m as he won the lone competitor in the field to top the 2.00-meter mark. His new PR bested Emory Hall of Famer Troy Thompson's previous record jump of 2.09m, set at the 1996 Emory Invitational.

Sophomore Thomas Perretta enjoyed a successful afternoon for the Eagles as well, earning All-UAA honors in the 800m Run as he finished as the runner-up with a time of 1:54.55. Perretta added a fifth place effort as a member of 4x400m Relay, teaming with Fost, Alex Rand and Matthew White to record a time of 3:18.24.

Adding scoring marks for the Eagles on Sunday were freshman Jacob Solomon in the 100m Dash (4th, 11.10), freshman Patrick Crockett in the javelin (4th, 50.80m), sophomore Jack Whetstone in the 5000m Run (7th, 15:24.37), freshman Lucas Werner in both the 400m Hurdles (6th, 55.77) and 110m Hurdles (7th, 15.42), freshman Spencer Moore in the 800m Run (7th, 1:59.68) and senior Zachary Lembersky in the discus (7th, 39.23m).
