Track & Field Competes at Georgia Tech Invitational

In the final tune up before next week’s UAA Championships, the Emory University track and field programs sent a small group of athletes to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational. There was no team scoring at the meet.

Freshmen Patrick Crockett and Chris Jernigan each turned in top-seven showings in the javelin with Crockett placing fifth at 51.36m and Jernigan finishing seventh with a personal-best 48.95m. Classmate Lucas Werner clocked a new PR as he finished 11th in the 110m Hurdles (15.62) and in the 1500m Run, sophomore Jacob Hedgepeth recorded a new career-best 3:58.48 as he placed 18th. And on Saturday, both Thomas Perretta and Jon Marcus turned in PRs in the 800m Run with Perretta taking ninth at 1:53.39 and Marcus crossing in 23rd at 1:56.29.

On the women’s side, junior Isabel Saridakis finished second in the pole vault with a height of 3.70m and over in the hammer, senior Paris Wagner took sixth at 49.45m. Senior Kayla O’Shea added a 12th place showing in 1500m Run with a time of 4:44.07.

Other top finishes for the Eagles were sophomore Mason Lewis in the 100m Dash (11.14), senior Bennett Shaw in the 3000m Steeplechase (9:41.07), junior Nyla Lindo in the long jump (4.86m) and the men’s 4x100m Relay of Lewis, Jacob Solomon, Liam Fost and Alex Rand (7th, 43.24).
