Emory Track & Field Trio Selected as UAA Athletes of the Week

Emory University Track and Field sophomores Jack Whetstone, Rebekah Bondi and freshman Connor Kamp were named the University Athletic Association’s Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Emory Crossplex Invitational on Sunday. The weekly honors marked the first career award for all three performers.

Whetstone turned in an impressive performance in the 5000m Run on Sunday, winning the event with a time of 15:01.67. His time was a new personal best, set the meet record and ranked 8th all-time in program history and moved him into 18th among the Division III leaderboard and 2nd in the UAA.

Bondi paced Emory field performers on Sunday at the team's indoor invitational, taking second overall in the long jump with a seasonal best mark of 5.31m. She also competed in the high jump (31st, 1.35m), shot put (42nd, 7.42m), 60m Hurdles (25th, 10.01) and 800m (43rd, 2:47.42). Her long jump mark moved her 2nd place in the UAA performance list and 37th nationally.

Kamp was one of two scoring performances for the Eagles in the field events on Sunday, taking 8th overall (2nd among DIII) in the long jump with a season best 6.18m. He also competed in the 60m Dash (44th, 7.64) and 200m Dash (49th, 24.76). His long jump mark moved Kamp to 5th on the UAA performance list.

The Eagles return to the Crossplex this Sunday for the KMS Invitational.
